Shameless Giveaway Hop

UPDATE: Winners announced!

We decided to do this Hop, to celebrate adult books, and by adults I mean steamy books. So I’m giving away two of my favorite erotic romances:

Broken by Megan Hart

This book has a lot of sex, every chapter, I think, has at least a sex scene. But the story is complex and deep. Sadie’s husband has been paralyzed for several years, so their life isn’t what it used to. I’m not just talking about their sex life, although that one is gone, but their whole dinamics radically changed. Her husband is frustrated and angry, she is frustrated and angry, and even though they love each other, all those frustrations and anger have taken its toll (I'm repeating myself, I know!).

One day Sadie meets Joe. This guy is dreamy, but he’s also a bit of a player. They strike an unlikely friendship and instead of talking about everything and anything, like friends do, every month, when they get together, he tells her a story about his latest sexcapade. Every chapter starts something like this: Today my name is Meg… And so Sadie narrates us Joe’s story by putting herself in his latest conquest role.

Their lives are forever changed by this because Sadie is starting to realize everything she’s missing, her sadness and frustrations becomes revelion, but she loves her husband so she can’t leave him.

Joe is an interesting character and just as complex. We don’t get to actually see into his head, but little by little we get to know him and we realize, just like Sadie does, that he’s more than he seems.

Sadie’s husband is another important and complex character. This isn’t an easy read, and it’s quite the bittersweet story, but if you aren’t squeamish about the sex, then it’s a must read. It’s gritty, passionate and romantic, painfully real and just plain awesome.

Broken by Megan Hart
Spice. May 1, 2007

So there, this is the first price. If you live in the US or Canada you can choose between the paperback version and the electronic one. If you are an international reader I’m afraid you can only choose the electronic one (Kindle, Nook, or EPUB) I’m sorry about this but the book isn’t available on The Book Depository.

Liberating Lacey by Anne Calhoun.

The story is about Lacey. Her marriage is finally over after years of stale living. Her life was boring, her husband was boring and her sex life was boring. One day she meets Hunter, a young cop who is everything her husband wasn’t. Young, attractive, caring and hot. They have a one night stand, than quickly becomes an affair and then something more. But there are so many differences between them, age, background, work, money, that how can they make it work?

Again, this story has lots of sex, but this is how erotic romance should be. Lots of heart and character development. There’s nothing porny about this book. Lacey and Hunter are scarred characters with lots of issues and insecurities, but also with a lot of good qualities and love. Their relationship is a bit of a struggle and it seems like there’s a huge power imbalance between them, but is nothing like that. I just loved this book and this is another must read author.

Liberating Lacey by Anne Calhoun
Ellora's Cave. January 22, 2010.

This is the second price. Liberating Lacey is available from the Book Depository, so everyone can win this as long as they ship to your country or if you prefer the electronic copy.

So there, two great reads that I think a fabulous prices. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone, let’s celebrate steamy stories! There’s nothing tacky about these books and you might learn a thing or two...

For a chance to win just leave a comment telling us about your favorite steamy read. It doesn’t have to be an erotic romance, just a book whose love story is so passionate that makes it hot. I have read books that only have kissing in them and are quite hot. I think it’s more about the characters than about the number of sex scenes. So tell us about your favorite so we can add it to our TBR pile!

One last thing, if you are an international reader and don’t have an e-reader, let me know so I only add your name to the Liberating Lacey draw.

Rules:
  • Due to the nature of the books you must be at least 18 years old to participate.
  • Contest open internationally but please remember that some of the books have restrictions (see notes in red).
  • Ends on Jan 27th at midnight, so you have until then to enter.
  • Winners will be chosen using random.org and announced here and through email, and will have 72hrs to respond.
  • Entries must have an email address to be valid.

  1. Wow, both books sound hot! I would like to read either one!

I used to read alot of Christine Feehan books, and I just loved her Carpathians! They would find their 'mates' for life and just latch on. The steamy scenes were so hot, and they were the kinds of books I could read again and again. Something about that visceral, very primal connection that just set my teeth on edge!

  2. I can't say favorite..it's too hard, but I will say the steamiest book I have read lately has been Lady of the Drake...that was a I need to be in an air-conditioned room read...lol

  4. Wow they both sound pretty good! I can't say that I really have a favorite because I've read so many steamy reads!

However I think one of steamiest books I've read so far would have to be The Heart of War by Lisa Beth Darling.

There were quite a few decent sex scenes in this book and as the book went on it became less and less about the attraction and the sex between the two main characters and more about their relationship and their fight to remain together!

This book was both one of the steamiest and one of the most well written books that I've read in a long time!

  13. Magic Bleeds by Ilona Andrews. I think it just has one sex scene which isn't very long or detailed. It's just that the two characters have finally put everything aside and admitted they wanted each other, had feelings for each other after three previous books. It was so satisfying.

  28. Tough call because I read a lot, as do many of the folks who have commented. My favorite all time seduction scene would have to be "Underfoot" by Leanne Banks. It was one of the first romance novels I had ever read, but it's one of those books that sticks with you. You are right, too, that a good seduction doesn't have to be gratuitously sexual--the scene that sticks in my mind certainly wasn't.

  50. Fantastic blog hop. I'm finding so many new authors to read. Thanks for participating and offering such a great giveaway! I would love to read Broken by Megan Hart.

As for the steamiest books I've read, that's tough. The first were Rachel Vincent's Pride series and then Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series. (Maybe it's a Rachel thing!) The characters' growing attraction to each other and inherent sensuality helped build a strong, romantic relationship without being overtly sexual for the sake of being sexual. And when then the sex did happen, WOW, do the sparks fly!

    Thanks for the chance.

  59. I really don't have just one favorite scene, honestly. It depends on whether I am in a kissing mood, hand-holding mood, just jump right into sex mood, do you know what I mean? But I will say that just about anything that involves the rubbing of neck or shoulders or back--man or woman--and probably some intermittent kissing of those parts as well, is just hot! It doesn't even have to lead to sex!
