Review: Between Sinners and Saints by Marie Sexton

Marie Sexton is one of my favorite writers. She was one of the first m/m authors I discovered and is a huge part of why I love the genre so much. Every time I talk about her I say this but I really think that if you are new to m/m you should start by reading her book Promises.

I admit that when I first heard about this book I was a bit skeptical because based on the cover and the blurb it seemed like it would be a bit of a drunken sex-fest on the beach. I mean, the book was about a bartender and a massage therapist living in Miami, so what was I supposed to think? Of course I was wrong and I should be ashamed because I have read all of her books and she doesn’t write anything superficial. Not only this book wasn’t superficial but I think it was one of the deepest and darkest books she has written. It deals with a lot of serious issues but in a way that leaves you feeling positive instead of depressed.

Genre Wars! What’s your favorite genre and which book in that genre made it your favorite?

If I have to choose only ONE genre (why only one??) I would have to say that for me is Romantic Suspense and Suzanne Brockmann and her Troubleshooter Series is the one to blame, especially Over the Edge. To be fair Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard is also responsible, that’s a really good novel.  

Review: The Iron Duke by Meljean Brook

Is no secret that I’m a huge fan of paranormal romances and even techno-fiction and sci-fiction.  I’m the first to recognize that I have read I don’t know how many novels about strange things and creatures. However, as open minded as I am, I had never ever tried Steampunk, the mix between historical and sci-fic wasn’t exactly appealing for me. Then, Brie wrote this great review about Here There Be Monsters and I decided to give it a go. Again I’m in huge debt with Brie –I’ll need several lives to pay her-.

The Iron Duke is the first novel of the Iron Seas series by Meljean Brook. You don’t have to read Here There Be Monsters- a novella- to follow the plot, however reading it will give you a necessary background to understand the complex and detailed world that Brook has created.

The magic book fairy pops out of your cereal box and says "you and your favorite character (from a book of course) can switch places!" Who are you going to switch with?

That’s a tough one, but in the spirit of the last book that I read (Kiss of Snow) I would choose to be Sienna, not only I’d be younger but Hawke sure is really hot and Sienna's powers are scary.  The real truth is that I can not choose a heroine. I want to be Becky from the Shopaholic Series (Sophie Kinsella) and Bella from the Black Dagger Brotherhood (J.R. Ward) and Taylor from the Guardian Series (Meljean Brook). Actually; I think that Taylor it is! Oh yeahh, I easily could deal with Michael!

Review: Kiss of Snow by Nalini Singh

Consider this review a spoilerfest, so if you haven’t read the book then please skip the review. You have been warned.

Kiss of Snow is the 10^th book in the Psy/Changeling series by Nalini Singh, and if you are a regular reader of our blog you know that I was anxiously waiting for it because I’m a bit of a fan-girl when it comes to Nalini.

I’m assuming that you are a fan of the series because if you are not then there is no point in starting with this book. Not only will you be lost and won’t know any of the characters, but most important you won’t be emotionally invested in them and that is the key element for a series to work, you need to care for the characters, but that is impossible if you don’t know them. So please go and read this series in order because you are missing out on something amazing.

Review: Yours to Keep by Shannon Stacey

I’ve been meaning to read one of Shannon Stacey’s books for quite some time now, but I always ended up getting sidetracked and so she remained on my TBR list. When I saw this book on NetGalley I took a chance and requested it because it would give me the perfect excuse to finally read on of her books.

I don’t normally read series out of order but Yours to Keep sounded really interesting so I just dove into it. I think it stands alone perfectly fine, it didn’t spoiled the other books for me and the only problem I had was that sometimes I had problems keeping up with all the family members, and I think that had I read the books in orders this wouldn’t have been a problem. Apart from that I thoroughly enjoyed the book and I can’t believe it took me so long to discover this author.
